Napkin sketch of Farkas and Vilkas, Skyrim’s wolf brothers. I love them both so Jorrvaskr is always my first stop in Whiterun. :)
I may start photographing these in the future, scanners seem to do the strangest things to napkins. :|
Number four of my Dragon Age napkin sketches is Marian Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall. I have a million thoughts on her, so much reverence, just so much. I think Tuchanka wrote one of the best essays about Marian as a protagonist, and says everything far more eloquently than I could ever hope to!
This is the first and likely the last portrait I do that is almost full-body. While I like the less-static pose, the details were almost impossible to do this small. Seriously, I think I’m permanently cross-eyed now. Lesson learned. ;;
The first three were Garrett, Varric, and Aveline. :)
bahdfaghaldsfhg i’m kinda drunk right now but LIKE OH GOD THE DETAILS AND THE FACT THAT YOU DDID THIS MUCH DETAIL ON A NAPKIN BLOWS ME AWAY
Look at that shading! And UGGGGGH love the background and the sigil and that you included like that weird stylistic art they do between acts with the qunari AHHH GOD
“It gets no easier. Your struggles have only just begun.”
Dragon Age napkin portrait number three is one of my absolute favorite characters, Aveline Vallen. I had a very difficult time deciding on how to portray her, her story is a long road of loss and triumph, strength and vulnerability.
Ultimately I decided to focus on her arrival to Kirkwall. Knowing what’s to come, it certainly feels like an “out of the frying pan” moment. And knowing her she never let anyone else see that look on her face.
I do wish I hadn’t made the mist enshrouding darkspawn in the bottom left corner so dark, it makes them very hard to see clearly. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned about this medium, it’s that you get no second chances. ;; Garrett and Varric were part one and two, respectively. :)
I am still in something of a daze under the heaps of love you all have shown me, you all mean so damn much to me it’s hard to think straight sometimes! :’) I find the art I post here progressively becoming more and more personal, which is terrifying now that I think about it, and it really makes me happy to see anyone enjoying it at all. <3
Here is a rough comp of the next in my napkin series, my lovely lady Aveline. I suppose Kirkwall weighing on her shoulders was my theme, but I am certain I’m going to change it drastically right now. And I should add it feels really strange to be doing this one at home, but I have two days off from work (whee!) and I am going to make the most of them! :D
I love it, the cheekbones especially.
Blahfaag I love looking at concepts/thumbnails to see what’s the thought process behind a lot of art. But aaaah I am so stuck on Aveline’s freckles and that haunted expression of hers.
Napkin sketch of Garrett and Malcom’s Honor. Because my personal art and my geek art are one and the same now.
And maker help me, I have one planned for every companion.
