Number four of my Dragon Age napkin sketches is Marian Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall. I have a million thoughts on her, so much reverence, just so much. I think Tuchanka wrote one of the best essays about Marian as a protagonist, and says everything far more eloquently than I could ever hope to!
This is the first and likely the last portrait I do that is almost full-body. While I like the less-static pose, the details were almost impossible to do this small. Seriously, I think I’m permanently cross-eyed now. Lesson learned. ;;
The first three were Garrett, Varric, and Aveline. :)
bahdfaghaldsfhg i’m kinda drunk right now but LIKE OH GOD THE DETAILS AND THE FACT THAT YOU DDID THIS MUCH DETAIL ON A NAPKIN BLOWS ME AWAY
Look at that shading! And UGGGGGH love the background and the sigil and that you included like that weird stylistic art they do between acts with the qunari AHHH GOD
I am still in something of a daze under the heaps of love you all have shown me, you all mean so damn much to me it’s hard to think straight sometimes! :’) I find the art I post here progressively becoming more and more personal, which is terrifying now that I think about it, and it really makes me happy to see anyone enjoying it at all. <3
Here is a rough comp of the next in my napkin series, my lovely lady Aveline. I suppose Kirkwall weighing on her shoulders was my theme, but I am certain I’m going to change it drastically right now. And I should add it feels really strange to be doing this one at home, but I have two days off from work (whee!) and I am going to make the most of them! :D
I love it, the cheekbones especially.
Blahfaag I love looking at concepts/thumbnails to see what’s the thought process behind a lot of art. But aaaah I am so stuck on Aveline’s freckles and that haunted expression of hers.
