Do you know what I like about Aveline?  The fact that she’s a woman fighter who actually has beleivable muscle mass for someone who carries a full suit of armor and weapons and beats the shit out of monsters.  You can’t have skinny minnies and have me believe that she can beat large brutes like cardboard.

i have kept this post open in a tab ever since i first saw it. the way hawke looks in that outfit is like a security blanket and i can’t start my day without these two perfect edits. (as distracting as varric’s chest is in the background, and as delightfully interested in hawke’s shoulders as anders appears to be, hawke’s gaze is so piercing that i can’t help but feel like cassandra pentaghast after a particularly effective scene, one that causes her to leave the room on pretense of seeker business, but actually she needs a cold glass of water to combat all her hawke-related feelings.)

“It gets no easier. Your struggles have only just begun.”Dragon Age napkin portrait number three is one of my absolute favorite characters, Aveline Vallen. I had a very difficult time deciding on how to portray her, her story is a long road of loss and triumph, strength and vulnerability.Ultimately I decided to focus on her arrival to Kirkwall. Knowing what’s to come, it certainly feels like an “out of the frying pan” moment. And knowing her she never let anyone else see that look on her face.I do wish I hadn’t made the mist enshrouding darkspawn in the bottom left corner so dark, it makes them very hard to see clearly. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned about this medium, it’s that you get no second chances. ;; Garrett and Varric were part one and two, respectively. :)

I am still in something of a daze under the heaps of love you all have shown me, you all mean so damn much to me it’s hard to think straight sometimes! :’) I find the art I post here progressively becoming more and more personal, which is terrifying now that I think about it, and it really makes me happy to see anyone enjoying it at all. <3
Here is a rough comp of the next in my napkin series, my lovely lady Aveline. I suppose Kirkwall weighing on her shoulders was my theme, but I am certain I’m going to change it drastically right now. And I should add it feels really strange to be doing this one at home, but I have two days off from work (whee!) and I am going to make the most of them! :D

I love it, the cheekbones especially.

Blahfaag I love looking at concepts/thumbnails to see what’s the thought process behind a lot of art. But aaaah I am so stuck on Aveline’s freckles and that haunted expression of hers.
